Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
While I understand that using insurance can help offset the cost of therapy, I have chosen to de-panel from insurance companies in order to provide care that is flexible, personalized, and truly centered around your needs—not the limitations of a third-party system. Insurances often place restrictions on the number of sessions allowed per year, how frequently you can be seen, and even the length of each session. In many cases, coverage is contingent on a formal mental health diagnosis, which is not something that aligns with my values as a therapist. If you have out-of-network benefits, I’m happy to provide a superbill to support reimbursement.
Do you offer sliding-scale or reduced fee options?
I reserve five spots in my practice for individuals who may not be able to afford the full fee for therapy. These sliding-scale slots are intended for those who come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and/or are navigating financial strain due to high monthly expenses, such as medical bills, student loans, or family/caregiving responsibilities.
My goal in offering a sliding scale is to reduce barriers to care while still maintaining the sustainability of my practice. If you feel you may be a good fit for one of these spots, please reach out—availability may vary, but I'm happy to discuss options or add you to a waitlist if needed.
Do you offer both in-person and virtual therapy?
Yes, I offer therapy under a hybrid model. I see clients virtually through a secure and confidential telehealth platform, which allows for flexibility and convenience. For those who prefer to meet in-person, I also offer sessions at my office located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
At this time, in-person sessions are available on Fridays and at the following location: 117 Dobbin Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222
What can I expect in the first session?
I understand that the first session can feel like a lot, especially if you’ve been in therapy before and are distressed at the thought of retelling your entire story. My goal is to make our first meeting feel like a grounded, collaborative conversation rather than an overwhelming intake. While there may be some background questions to help me understand what brings you in, we’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable to you. There’s no pressure to share everything all at once. This session is really about beginning to get to know each other and starting to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and tailored to your needs.
What kind of therapy approaches do you use?
While my approach to therapy can be viewed as eclectic, as I draw from a range of modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and somatic-based practices; the core of my work stems from a relational framework. This means I place a strong emphasis on the relationship we build together and view it as a powerful tool for healing and growth. Like any meaningful relationship, ours is built on trust, respect and collaboration.
No matter the tools we use, everything I do is grounded in a trauma-informed lens. This means that I approach our work with an understanding of how trauma—whether acute, chronic, or complex, can shape the way we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. It means that I prioritize safety, choice, and collaboration, and pay close attention to how power dynamics, past experiences, and your nervous system may be showing up in the room.
Rather than assuming “what’s wrong,” my approach gently explores “what happened,” at a pace that feels manageable for you. It emphasizes curiosity over judgement, and flexibility over a rigid structure.
What age groups do you work with?
I primarily work with adults ranging from young adulthood through middle age. This includes individuals navigating transitions, such as entering a new workforce, building relationships, starting families, or redefining identity and purpose in midlife.
How can I get started with you?
The best way to reach me is through my Contact page, or by sending me an email directly. When you reach out, feel free to share a few lines about what’s bringing you to therapy right now. It doesn’t need to be long—just enough to give me a sense of what you’re holding.
From there, we’ll set up a free 30 minute consultation call, where we have a chance to connect and for you to ask questions.
